BEHAVIOURAL THERAPIST

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

We are seeking applications for the role of Behavioural Therapist. The
successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and
supporting a model of positive behaviour support through a tiered
model of care including training, consultation, and direct assessment
& intervention.

The Behavioural Therapist will be a key member of a multi-disciplined
team with responsibility for supporting the operational provision of
an effective and efficient positive behaviour supports service to the
relevant individuals. These supports will be delivered across

South East.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Active promotion and support of staff teams in the development of
knowledge and skills in challenging behaviour and the co-ordination of
measures that facilitate information sharing and skills building.
* Identification of training need in challenging behaviour and
active participation in the development, design and deliverance of
training and strategies aimed at meeting these needs. This will be
done in consultation with the psychology department H.S.E.
Carlow/Kilkenny and each organisation.
* Work as a member of each organisations team in providing an
integrated and co-ordinated service to relevant individuals we
support.
* Engaging in functional assessments of behaviour and collaborate in
the development of behaviour support plans.
* Facilitate strengths-based skills groups aimed at enhancing
resiliency skills and adaptive behaviours.
* Work with the people we support and their families to implement
the therapeutic interventions designed in collaboration with the wider
team.
* Maintain concise and timely clinical notes, progress reports and
assessment reports.
* Manage confidential data and personal information.
* Engage effectively with outside agencies and advocate for the
people we support.
* Undertake any reasonable travelling requirements, to fulfil the
tasks and responsibilities of the role.
* Respect the confidentiality of all matters learned in relation to
the post, the individuals we support, other members of staff and the
public.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Appropriate third level qualifications or relevant health care
discipline
* A postgraduate or master's in applied psychology or Behavioural
analysis or other clinically relevant area.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Significant relevant experience in supporting people with
intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
* A full clean driving licence and the use of a car is essential.

EXPERIENCE

* Minimum of 2 years? experience working as a behavioural
therapist.
* Experience in completing behaviour assessments and developing
behaviour support plans.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

* The ability to liaise successfully between groups by expressing and
addressing issues clearly and articulately as well as excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
* A high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative.
* Determination and a willingness to make a success of the job.
* Ability to manage a case load under supervision.
* Ability to make ethical decisions in line with organisational
policy and PSI guidelines and or other relevant professional bodies.

CONTRACT: FULL TIME PERMANENT CONTRACT
